Written in C++, the Redix XML/EDI Converter Engines run on various versions
of the UNIX operating systems, including SVR4, Sun Solaris, DEC Alpha, HP-UX, and AIX/6000. In
fact, Redix International, Inc. started its development from the UNIX environment and
gradually ported into the Microsoft Windows environment.
The Input File Descriptor (IFD) and Output File Descriptor (OFD) are
the two most important
files to the Redix Conversion Engines. Instead of preparing the IFD and OFD from
scratch in the UNIX platforms,
the user can use the Redix Authoring Tools in Windows to define
the user's message definition
and generate an IFD. If the user has the Redix XML GUI Mapper with Authoring Tools,
the user can use the Mapper
to generate an Output File Descriptor (OFD) as well. When the IFD
and OFD are tested and verified, the user can simply copy the IFD and OFD to the UNIX environment.
The functionalities provided in the UNIX version are identical to
those provided in the Windows platform.
The Redix XML/EDI Converter Engines also support the Java(TM)
interface. Using the Java(TM) Native Interface (JNI), Redix provides an API module,
e.g., RedixAPI.DLL in the Windows environment or libredixAPI.so in
Solaris, that allows
the user to integrate the Redix XML/EDI Converter Engines with the user's existing Java(TM) applications.
