EXtensible Markup Language (XML) provides a new solution for Electronic Commerce and EDI over the Internet. XML, a subset of SGML, which is a universal data format, allows customized markups to be created and shared over a network. It maintains the virtues of SGML and HTML, but unlike HTML, XML allows users to define their own tags. This single feature frees users from the constraints of predefined tags and lets users structure the data in an XML document in any way they prefer. As XML spreads throughout the world and as different companies implement XML in different industries, the tasks of managing XML relationships becomes more complicated. First, for enterprises to gain the expected benefits from an XML system, it must be fully integrated into their application. Second, there are many existing EDI applications and EDI messages. However, integration between an existing EDI system and a new XML system is unavoidable at the present time. Third, since trading partners typically have a unique way of using XML standards or DTD (Data Type Definition), integrating XML to meet each other trading partner’s needs under a consistent interface is crucial. In recognizing all the important tasks in spreading XML to the world, Redix International, Inc. has a family of XML/DTD/EDI products. The following is a matrix of the Redix XML products in both Windows and UNIX platforms. UNIX platforms include AIX, DEC UNIX, Sun Solaris, and HP-UX.
Note: The Redix AnyToAny XML GUI Mapper with EDI Authoring Tools require the AnyToAny XML Format Converter engine. The engine can either reside in the same system or in the network. |
